MLC Showcases Independent Classification at the National Sheep Association Sheep Event
Meat & Livestock Classification (MLC) was delighted to exhibit at this year's National Sheep Association (NSA) Sheep Event, held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern. As the UK's flagship event for the sheep sector, the biennial show brings together thousands of sheep farmers, processors, industry organisations and suppliers to discuss the latest developments, share best practice and explore innovations across the industry.
Throughout the day, the MLC team welcomed a steady stream of visitors to the stand, providing farmers and industry stakeholders with practical advice on independent carcase classification, dressing specification compliance and how these processes contribute to transparency and confidence throughout the sheep supply chain.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to explain the role MLC plays in helping ensure that producers are paid fairly for the livestock they present. Visitors were keen to discuss the EUROP classification system, fat classification, dressing specifications and the importance of consistent, independent assessment in supporting confidence between producers and processors.
The team also highlighted MLC's ongoing work to improve understanding of carcase classification through farmer engagement, training events and educational resources. Many visitors were interested in how independent classification data can help producers make informed breeding, management and marketing decisions to improve flock performance and profitability.
